ZURICH – New figures suggest that as the market and demand for commercial airbags continues to grow, so does the potential for manufacturing them with industrial polyester yarns – rather than the more traditional option of using polyamide 6.6 yarns. As such, Swiss textile machinery company Oerlikon claims to have commissioned a number of airbag manufacturing projects over the last 12 months using both of these materials.
