SYDNEY – For the first time, biomedical engineers at the University of New South Wales (UNSW) in Australia have woven a smart fabric which claims to mimic the sophisticated and complex properties of the bone tissue periosteum. Having achieved proof of concept, the researchers are now ready to produce fabric prototypes for a range of advanced functional materials which could transform the medical, safety and transport sectors.
