HELSINKI – Finnish chemicals company Affix Labs has developed what it believes to be one of the only viable long-lasting solutions capable of killing 99.99 per cent of SARS-COV-2, a strain of the coronavirus.
In development since January, the firm’s Si-Quat solution is based on quaternary ammonium – a disinfectant recognised by the World Health Organisation (WHO) for its ability to combat COVID-19. The ingredient, which holds positively charged nitrogen particles, attracts viruses and bacteria and then penetrates their membranes to kill them within minutes.
