ANDOVER – US manufacturer Polartec has announced the elimination of PFAS (per- and polyfluoralkyl substances) from the durable water repellent (DWR) treatments used on its portfolio of fabrics.

The company will instead adopt a non-PFAS treatment that’s said to offer the same level of durability and water repellency.

“Achieving non-PFAS treatments within our product line is an important milestone in our commitment to sustainably made performance fabrics,” said Steve Layton, Polartec President. “It’s the latest step on our journey to an even more sustainable Polartec.”
