LONDON - The British Fashion and Textile Technology (BFTT) research programme has awarded £1.1 million (US$1.5m) in funding to 13 sustainability-focused small-to-medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).
The money will help fund research and development in areas including surface finishing, natural dyeing, traceable raw materials, waste recycling, sensing technologies, bio-materials, non-woven textiles, on-shoring, digital solutions and sustainable chemical treatments.
Companies receiving grants are Dash and Miller, Jessica Garvey Birch, Grady and Robinson, Phoebe English, Iinouiio, Keracol, Bulmer and Lumb, Kirsty McDougall, Nurvv, PlanetCare, Project Plan B, Virustatic and William Clark and Sons.
