WASHINGTON – The U.S. Department of Commerce has announced affirmative final determinations following antidumping and countervailing duty investigations into both China and India in relation to the pairs dumping of polyester yarn.
US manufacturers last year brought the extent of the issue to light with a petition focused on the unfair advantage the two nations had in undercutting native manufacturers to on-board new custom.
Exporters from China and India are said to dump yarns in the US at margins ranging from 76.07 to 77.15 percent and 17.62 to 47.51 percent, respectively. Petitioners Nan Ya Plastics and Unifi have warned of the threat this would pose to domestic markets if it were to continue.
