ANN ARBOR – Spider silk-based fibre innovator Kraig Biocraft Laboratories has announced the development of a new technology platform which will reportedly yield nearly pure spider silk.

The new platform, based on a non-CRISPR gene editing knock-in knock-out technology, it’s thought will unlock material capabilities which transcend what’s been possible to date. “The company is now well underway, and rapidly advancing, its efforts to enhance its silkworm technology to allow for large scale US production,” the company says.
