BLANES – Catalunya-based Nylstar says its Meryl yarn, used for airbags and carpets, can now be produced to comply with the Global Recycled Standard (GRS) certification, leveraging Invista’s nylon 6.6 polymer.

Containing more than 50 per cent recycled content, Nylstar has identified a means by which its high-performance yarn can also boast impressive sustainability credentials, integrating post-industrial nylon 6.6 material that Invista supplies in pellet-form.

“We, through our Research Center for Advanced Recycled Materials, are the first to commercialise these recycled materials for use in fine denier yarns for the athleisure market,” said Alfonso Cirera, CEO of Nylstar.
