TSURUOKA - Japanese biotechnology startup Spiber has signed an agreement with US sustainable agribusiness ADM to expand the production of Spiber’s innovative plant-based Brewed Protein polymers for use in apparel and other products.

The collaboration will combine Spiber’s cutting-edge structural protein technology with ADM’s expertise in large-scale fermentation technologies, engineering, operations and the agricultural supply chain.

Brewed Protein polymers will be produced by ADM in the US, using plant-based dextrose as a feedstock, and then shipped to Spiber's downstream facilities to be processed into materials, primarily fibres, for apparel, and also lightweight auto parts and high-performance foams.
