BEAVERTON – Sportswear titan Nike has developed the latest addition to its portfolio of technologically-enhanced footwear, its new Nike Adapt Huarache. In-keeping with the outlandish design of Huaraches of old, the brand says it has “augmented” its latest iteration, with the introduction of FitAdapt, self-lacing technology.

Earlier this year, T.EVO learnt of Nike’s efforts to reinvent its self-lacing footwear with the launch of the HyperAdapt BB. Developed for basketball players, the shoes were said to “solve an enduring athlete-equipment quandary,” according to the firm’s designer Tinker Hatfield. “The ability to make swift micro-adjustments. Undue pressure caused by tight tying and slippage resulting from loose laces are now relics of the past.”

With the development of the tech-laden Huaraches, Nike marks its step into the casual footwear market, with “an intelligent platform that updates and evolves with the user,” it says.
