BEAVERTON – World Athletics has banned variants of Nike’s controversial Vaporfly footwear, after weeks of deliberations over whether they provide an unfair advantage.
The sports governing body has clamped down on footwear specifications for professional runners after accusations that they helped Kenyan runners Eliud Kipchoge and Brigid Kosgei run a sub-two hour marathon and break the women’s marathon world record, respectively.
