DENKENDORF – A research team at the German Institutes of Textile and Fiber Research Denkendorf (DITF) have developed new a mechanism for goalkeeper gloves in football that shows promise of relieving stress on the fingertips.

As has been demonstrated during Euro 2020, goalkeepers are often called on to extend themselves to make fingertip saves for the good of the team.

With shots sometimes surpassing 60mph speeds, the researchers have looked to offer a solution that protects the athletes, and it has been tipped to become the standard in the run up to the World Cup in Qatar next year.
