WASHINGTON – The US Department of Commerce (DOC) has implemented a new set of anti-dumping deposit charges for a range of imported performance materials from China. An investigation found that a number of Chinese textile manufacturers have been selling amorphous silica materials in the US at unfairly low prices.

Amorphous silica is a type of non-ceramic material used in the production of performance fabrics due to its impressive heat resistance and insulation properties. US performance textiles company Auburn Manufacturing, who use the material in its range of ‘AMI-SIL’ protective fabrics, launched a complaint to the DOC after claiming that American textile manufacturers using the material are suffering due to cheap Chinese imports.
