NAGANO – Scientists at Shinshu University, Japan, have developed a prototype wearable robotic support system for the elderly, designed to aid movement in the hip joint. Integrating PVC gel, mesh electrodes and applying voltage, the research team has created an actuator that can be applied to textiles to decrease muscular activity when walking, assisting those with mobility issues.
