LAUSANNE – Swiss researchers claim they have developed an elasticated high-performance fibre capable of registering strain which could lend itself to smart textile applications. The fibre-sensors have already found use within soft robotics as artificial nerves, but after their successful integration within a mesh fabric the research team suggests they could be used for more varied textile applications.
