LOWELL – The University of Massachusetts Lowell has used part of the US$11.3 million it was granted last year to develop a new Fabric Discovery Centre that will explore a number of smart clothing concepts.

The facility was opened at a recent ceremony by Governor Charlie Baker – whose administration funded UMass with the aforementioned sum in June last year. This was part of a broader initiative by the Massachusetts government who holds ambitions of making the state a national hub for advanced textile R&D.
