TOKYO – Japanese fibre manufacturer Teijin Limited, trading company Itochu Corporation and engineering firm JGC Corporation have come together to pool their resources and develop effective recycling solutions for the textile industry.

The collaboration builds on Teijin’s foothold in the space of chemical recycling, and will focus particularly on scaling polyester recycling technologies.

The company was part of a joint venture in 2016 that established what was China’s largest recycled polyester plant, producing upwards of 20,000 tonnes per year at the time.
