SHANGHAI – Researchers at Fudan University claim to have developed a high-performance lithium-ion fibre battery, that could be integrated into clothing.

The fibre produced is reportedly one metre long, comparative to previous work which has yielded fibres just centimetres in size, and therefore shows promise of being used to charge electronic devices.

The material, for example, could be used even in the form of a garment to charge smartphones and fitness accessories on the go.
