LEIDEN – The Leiden Institute of Physics in the Netherlands has published details of a new advance in the intriguing science of metamaterials and synthetic composites. Researchers have developed a set of 3D printed ‘building blocks’, said to contain a range of unique and flexible properties suitable for producing more seamless wearable technologies, next-to-skin fabrics and even prosthetic limbs.
