Across the United States of America a nationwide effort is afoot. Led by the Advanced Functional Fabrics of America (AFFOA) initiative – a Massachusetts-based institute with an ambition of revitalising the country’s rich textile heritage – this effort has brought together over 100 manufacturers, academic institutes and start-ups in a bid to fast-track fibre technologies from concept to commercial success.
