PORTO - Technology company Smartex, which aims to reduce environmental impact by detecting textile defects in real-time, has acquired Turkish tech startup Tuvis.

The Portuguese company sees Tuvis, which develops artificial intelligence and deep learning solutions for visual quality control across textile production lines, as a natural fit.

Smartex last year raised US$24.7 million in a Series A funding round to develop its technology which automatically shuts down production to reduces waste, CO2 emissions, energy and water.
