NEW DELHI – India’s Ministry of Textiles has launched a two-pronged mission to boost the country’s silk production volumes by 2020, with significant investment in both equipment and training.

Under the Integrated Scheme for Development of Silk Industry initiative, Indian authorities will invest Rs 1000 crores – around US$150 million – in R&D, and hopes to train more than 50,000 people in the sector.
