ANN ARBOR – Spider silk-based fibre producer Kraig Biocraft Laboratories has appointed chief operating officer (COO) Jon Rice to its board of directors, as the firm looks to strengthen its corporate governance.

Rice joins three newly announced independent directors, along with Kraig Labs founder Kim Thompson, to form the majority controlled board, created to satisfy the uplisting requirement of a national exchange.

The former COO has overseen much of Kraig’s progress over recent years – notably the production of its Dragon Silk fabric for the US army, through to the formation of its subsidiary Prodigy Textiles in Vietnam.
