SYDNEY – An advanced technologies startup has developed what is claimed to be the world’s first thin-film copper treatment that provides rapid antiviral and antibacterial functionality for textiles.

The patent-pending technology, which is said to be capable of destroying the SARS-CoV-2 (Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus 2) virus within five minutes, has been championed by Swiss textile innovator HeiQ, and forms the antiviral shield on a new range of high aesthetic facemasks to be manufactured in the EU by HeiQ’s Medica operation in Spain.
