NEW YORK – A new type of fully biodegradable natural silk fibres – which are being used to produce a range of prototype shoes by sportswear giant Adidas – have been recognised by two leading textile certification bodies in the form of Oeko-Tex and the OECD. The ‘Biosteel’ fibres from German biotechnology company AMSilk have been successfully tested for biodegradability, product safety and pollutant levels.
