SAN FRANCISCO – Sportswear giant Adidas has partnered with fledgling footwear brand Allbirds to develop shoes which they say will have the world’s lowest carbon footprint.

The mission statement aligns with Allbirds ambitious target of becoming a carbon negative company, which it last month announced further strides in achieving with an announcement that it would label its footwear with details of their carbon emissions.

Whilst the manufacture of Allbirds’ footwear already boasts a lower CO2 output than many alternatives on the market, which average 12.5kg per pair comparative to the brand’s 7.6kg CO2e, together Adidas and Allbirds are striving to create a pair which during manufacture emit just 2kg CO2e.
