SAN MATEO – Integrated Tactical Technologies (iT2), a specialist in advanced wearable solutions, has been awarded a US$19.4 million contract to develop a garment-embedded two-way communication system for the army.

The Department of Defense’s Defense Innovation Unit (DIU) offered up the finances, which will be piled into prototyping apparel for the ‘wireless soldier’.

“Winning the wireless soldier contract with DIU validates our strategy of developing on-body wireless communication and sensing solutions that fill gaps not addressed by conventional wearables,” said Peter Hadrovic, CEO of iT2.
