INDIANA – A team of engineers and veterinarians at Purdue University in the US has embedded horse slickers with nanomaterials to gauge whether these fabrics can monitor the animal’s health.

The study, published in the journal Advanced Materials, explored whether the use of non-invasive e-textiles could outperform existing technologies when assessing whether a horse suffers from any underlying conditions.

Having been buoyed by positive results, the academics believe this type of smart textile could have a future monitoring the vitals of various animals and could be adapted for use on humans.
