MANCHESTER – A research team at the University of Manchester’s National Graphene Institute has developed a method through which it says graphene-based yarns can be produced at scale.

According to the team, with this technology a thousand kilograms of graphene-based yarn can be produced in an hour, potentially opening up new opportunities for sensor-laden textile substrates.

“We believe our ultrafast production process for graphene-based textiles would be an important step towards realising next generation high performance clothing,” says Dr Nazmul Karim, a lead author of the research paper published in ASC Nano, and knowledge exchange fellow from the National Graphene Institute.
