MANCHESTER – A research team at the University of Manchester has used graphene to control thermal radiation, which in theory could enable a wearer to retain warmth in cold climates and vice versa.  

Newly developed “smart fabrics” can be integrated within a garment’s design to allocate this functionality where necessary. Radiation testing highlighted that one user’s pocket could be manipulated by electrically charging a layer of graphene.
