CLERMONT FERRAND – Bioplastics firm Carbios has been named among the World Economic Forum’s (WEC) ‘Technology Pioneers’ for its promising chemical recycling technology.

The French firm’s solution upcycles post-consumer PET using enzymes to depolymerise fibres back into virgin-grade monomers – a process which can otherwise be both a chemically and energy intensive process.

As a pioneer, Carbios’ deputy CEO Martin Stephan Carbios will be invited to participate at World Economic Forum activities, events and discussions throughout the year and gains access to its initiatives for the next two as affiliates look to address key industry issues.
