BEAVERTON – Following World Athletics’ decision to ban variants of Nike’s Vaporfly footwear, the sportswear brand has developed shoes based on the same technology which are believed to comply new rules.

Last month the shoes which elite runners Eliud Kipchoge and Brigid Kosgei wore to break new world records were banned after it was decided they provided an unfair advantage.

New footwear can now only have one layer of carbon fibre and must have a sole no thicker than 40mm. They also need to have been publicly available for four months.
