SURREY – Scientists at the University of Surrey have partnered with Hopkins University, based in Maryland, USA, to develop a new woven technical textile composite for the automotive sector.

The material is said to mitigate vibrations and dampen sound from automotive engines via its unique construction. Essentially, its arrangement of layers allows for a highly rigid exterior whilst internal fibres are loose to absorb sound.
