MONTANA – Spintex Engineering, a spinout from the University of Oxford, has won the Biomimicry Institute’s 2021 Ray of Hope Prize. 

The promising start-up has developed a method of producing biodegradable textile fibre, taking inspiration from the way in which spiders spin their silk.  

Spintex saw off as many as 301 applicants from 49 countries for the prize, and has been awarded US$100,000 to help scale its operations.
