ESTERO – Biomaterials manufacturer Mushrooms Incorporated, formerly Marijuana Strategic Ventures, has filed for a provisional patent covering a novel method of producing mycelium thread for textile applications.

The firm says it hopes to develop prototype materials integrating the thread by next summer, with the view to commercialising the product by September of next year.

Kimberly Carlson, CEO of Mushrooms Inc, said: “With only two weeks of growing time, we are looking at an efficient break down process for agricultural waste with high volume product output to feed directly into current methods of textile production."
